Why lomo?

We chose this medium because it's simple way to express and describe reality around us.

No rules are needed
- DON'T THINK
- JUST SHOOT

It's spontaneous, natural and very special - and so are our photo-reporters...

That's why we wanted to give them the chance to become a real artist for some time, and show everyone their world.

Thanks

The project is finished so thanks to all the people who helped with this project.

exhibition

Finally we had our Big date – The opening of MY LOMO WORLD EXHIBITION you can see the photos from the exhibition under photos

About the project

Sabina Dziadecka from Poland and Rune Gråbæk from Denmark.
We are Ex-EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteers.
We did our voluntary work in 'The Institution For Mentally Disabled' in Porto, Portugal (APPACDM Porto).
Now as a continuation of our experience we would like to create a project called 'My Lomo World'.

The golden rules of LOMO

•  RULE 1:

"Take your camara wherever you go"

•  RULE 2:

" Use it any time -day and night"

•  RULE 3:

"Lomography is not an interference in your life but part of it"

•  RULE 4:

"Don't think"

•  RULE 5:

"Don't worry about any rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

We want to give 3 mentally handicapped people from institutions of occupational therapy in 3 Countries - Poland , Denmark , Portugal - LOMO cameras (explained below) and ask them to cover spontaneous photo reports in 3 topics:

  • Me
  • My daily life in Institution
  • MY FRIENDS

We hope to have 3 handicapped photographers from 3 countries making 3 photo reports.

Then we want to organize a professional photo-exhibition in Denmark and Poland with the possibility of a charity auction of LOMO photos.

WHY WE WANT TO DO THIS PROJECT?

It is a project made as our Capital of the Future (?). It is part of Action 3 of the Youth programme. It provides a funding possibility aimed at assisting and supporting ex-EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteers in using and enhancing the value of the experience they acquired during their voluntary service.

Our idea was to confront 3 different worldviews seen through eyes of disabled people.
We want:

  • To show differences and similarities of the occupational therapy institutions in 3 countries.
  • To give disabled people chance to take part in cultural event
  • T o facilitate them as creators of a professional exhibition
  • To integrate local communities with their worlds.

WHAT IS LOMO?

A LOMO is a camera made by a Russian company (or a company authorized to use the LOMO name) known for its astonishingly clear lenses. LOMO Action Sampler takes four photos in a row, with one click of the button.  Each lens clicks 1/4 of a second after the previous one does.  Lomography is a whole philosophy of spontaneous register of the reality around. Here are some basic Golden Rules of lomography:
